Team Sensor ON, supported by the ARTESA Association, concluded on 5th place participation in World Robot Olympiad Open Championship Americas 2026, competition held from September 25–27, in Ontario, California, in the category Future Innovators – Senior.

Sensor ON arrived in the United States after winning the national stage of the World Robot Olympiad Romania and represented Romania with StrataScan ON, a project developed to identify buried archaeological structures without direct intervention in the soil.

The idea of the project starts from the differences in the behavior of soil moisture. The robot measures these variations and uses them to identify areas where there might be underground structures. Before the competition in the United States, StrataScan ON was also tested in real conditions, at the Roman camp in Jidava, together with researchers from the "Vasile Pârvan" Institute of Archaeology.

At the Ontario competition, the project went before an international jury after months of work, testing, and improvements. Darius Cimpian, Stefan Paici and Anisia Sandru Together they built a project that went from idea and prototype to field testing and then to one of the most important international WRO competitions of this year.

The 5th place obtained in the Future Innovators – Senior category is a result that confirms the value of the work done by the team and the level to which the project has reached.

For ARTESA, supporting a team doesn't just mean attending a competition. It also means everything that needs to be built around the children so that their work can get there: organization, partnerships, resources, and people willing to believe in a project before knowing what the result will be.

Sensor ON's participation in the WRO Open Championship Americas would not have been possible without the support of the companies that supported the trip through the ARTESA Association: WALDEVAR Energy, as a main partner, alongside Conterra, Schneider Electric, Exim Banca Românească, WeltPixel, Sara Octomed, Grand View and RoDesign, as well as the team's parents and supporters.

We thank everyone for their trust and contribution to a journey that took three students and their project from the workshop to the stage of an international competition.

Congratulations, Sensor ON!

Together, we build a better world.
