RuralBots Open Championship – an educational robotics competition for students in grades I–IV

The ARTESA Association, within the RuralBots Initiative, launches RuralBots Open Championship, an educational robotics competition dedicated to students in grades I–IV.
The competition is organized in partnership with Constantin Brancoveanu Secondary School and Vasilați City Hall and will take place on June 20, 2026, in the gym of the Constantin Brâncoveanu High School.
The competition was designed as an authentic competitive framework, adapted to the children's age and balanced from a pedagogical point of view. We wanted a competition in which children could experience the joy of a real competition, learn to work in a team, take responsibility, think strategically and manage their emotions in a healthy way.
RuralBots Open Championship combines programming, teamwork, attention, coordination and problem solving in a format accessible to primary school students. Children must collaborate, make decisions, organize their roles and find solutions together, in a context where every contribution counts.
The goal of the competition is not just to get a high score. Equally important are the children's autonomy, individual responsibility, real collaboration within the team, and how they manage to respond to the challenges that arise along the way.
An essential aspect in the construction of this competition was related to the age of the participants. In younger classes, emotions are experienced much more intensely, and success and failure have a strong impact on the way children relate to themselves, the team and the idea of competition. For this reason, RuralBots Open Championship It was built to provide a serious and motivating experience, but at the same time appropriate to the children's developmental level.
For us, another special element is the fact that this competition is organized in a rural area. We want this to be more than just a location detail. We believe that valuable, well-organized and relevant educational experiences for children's future can be built here, in rural communities, with the same seriousness and care for quality. At the same time, the competition is open to participants from both rural and urban areas.
Through the RuralBots Open Championship, the ARTESA Association aims to offer children a learning and competition experience in which technology, creativity, discipline and team spirit meet in a natural way.
